Could Missed Heartbeat Due To Diagnosed Left Ventricular Apical Hypertrophic Myopathy Or Indigestion And Gas?

At times after eating I feel i have gas or air trapped inside and this causes irregular or missed heartbeats. normally after burping and release of the air/ gas the heartbeats return to normal.I have been diagnosed with left ventricular apical hypertrophic myopathy a genetic condition my cardiologist tells me. Iam 65 years old and walk 4-5 kms three times a week. I have no problem with the exercise. Are the missing beats caused by my heart condition or is it due to some irritation caused by the gas? And what would be the treatment?

Hi,

The symptoms you are referring are related to gas after eating most probably if you eat too fast or when drinking carbonated drinks.

However, I still insist to further evaluate your heart condition through:
- EKG
- stress test
- cardiac echo
- holter monitoring

and to keep monitoring your blood pressure together with heart rate, record the results and pass them to your cardiologist.

Please follow healthy diet regimen especially to eat often, small portions and slowly chewing.

All the best!
