Hi. My name is Vin. I'm so sorry about your fall and the hit to the head. Let me see if I can address some of your concerns.
Hitting your head in the way you have described can certainly lead to a
concussion. Multiple concussions can lead to SHORT TERM and LONG TERM symptoms.
Short term symptoms can be things like A) Visual problems: Blurry vision, difficulty focusing and twitching in your eyes (difficulty fixing you gaze on one object)
B) Fatigue: Concussions are associated with some amount of
drowsiness. This is actually a protective mechanism. The injured brain releases
neurotransmitters that try to put it into a resting state so healing can begin.
C) Dizziness: Injury to the sides of the head or to the back has been known to cause short term and very rarely long term dizziness issues.
Most of these short term symptoms are just that SHORT TERM, they normally clear up with 24-48 hours of rest (you don't have to be asleep the whole time. Just resting and some mild over the counter pain killers should be fine.)
If you start
Vomiting or you notice bleeding from your Ears or the Nose or the above short term symptoms are getting worse instead of better.. you really need to go see your doctor or the closest ER physician right away.
Long term symptoms from a
head injury are variable and depend on the injury and what part of the brain is affected. In what you have described so far I don't see any evidence of long term problems (Balance and walking issues, seizures, changes in smell, leaking clear fluid from the nose or ears). So I don't want to freak you out and make you over diagnose yourself.
So over all, YES, the eye twitching and Fatigue could be related to the injury. But I would adopt a kind of 'Wait and Watch' stance. See if the symptoms are getting better or worse over the next few hours and days. The only treatment I would recommend is that you continue your normal medications. Use over the counter pain meds for the pain from the bruising on the back of your head. Please stay off the alcohol for the next few weeks and don't take any OTC's (Over The Counters) that could cause drowsiness (eg
Benadryl, other
cough meds, etc)
I hope this information helps you and I really hope you start feeling better soon. Feel free to email me with follow-up questions if you think I can help you in any way.
