Could Lack Of Appetite In A Baby Be Due To Anemia?
my baby is 11 months old, about 29 inches tall and about 19lbs. he had a fever for 2 days ranging from 100 degrees to 103 degrees, his fever is gone but his appetite hasn t come back yet. he eats less than half of what he used to at meals and when he takes a bite of food he cries and grabs his tongue. he ll also sometimes grab his tongue and cry at random times. at his last doctors visit they told us he was anemic, when i looked up symptoms of anemia one was a sore tongue. is this a sign his anemia is getting worse?? or something else??
Hi...Usually during recovery form viral illness or any other illness like this the kids take at least 2- 3 weeks to regain their full appetite. Nothing to worry about it. If he is active otherwise do not worry. The anemia is not related to appetite. The tongue soreness could be due to multivitamin deficiency or stress ulcers due to the illness. I suggest you use multivitamin supplements for this. Regards - Dr. Suamnth
