Could Intercourse Despite Taking Birth Control Pills Still Result In A Pregnancy?

I had an abortion 3 weeks ago from today. My boyfriend and i had sex 2 weeks after the abortion an he came inside me, but i have been taking birth control consistently since the abortion. I took a pregnancy test today and it showed up positive. Am i pregnant?

Hi there , I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) If you have started birth control pills and are regularly and timely taking them, then you need not worry about the pregnancy. You are protected against the pregnancy.

3 ) I will suggest you to finish off the course of pills , and after the 7 days of pill free period if you still happen to miss out your periods, then please get morning's first sample of urine tested for pregnancy. In case of doubt blood beta HCG test and USG will be of help.

4 ) As such, it takes 20 days after the miscarriage for the levels of HCG - human chorionic gonadotropin to become undetectable in urine.
That can be the reason for your positive pregnancy test at present.

5 ) Even if you are pregnant, you can opt for termination of the pregnancy with medicines safely till 9 weeks of pregnancy under medical supervision.
