Could Hardness On Lower Lip Be A Permanent Damage Post Wisdom Tooth Extraction?

Hi, I had two wisdom teeth extraction at the same time 7 month ago which doctor pressed a lot my tooth and jaw. Numbness in the lower jaw or lower lips didn t go away. Also I feel pressure around my teeth 21,22,23 and so sensitive skin surface on that chin area at the left. When something cold touch my lips I feel strongly at the left corner of my mouth. I feel some hardness on my lower lip at the left with kind of numbness. Is it permanent damage? What can I do? Thanks Kamelia

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain it seems that during your wisdom tooth extraction there is an injury to the nerve (INFERIOR DENTAL NERVE) which gives sensations to the lower jaw.

As the nerve is located in close proximity to the wisdom tooth the extraction of wisdom tooth can lead to transient or permanent damage depending upon the level of injury happened to the nerve.

As per your complain it seems that you have Paraesthesia of nerve in which there is abnormal sensations felt in certain areas where the nerve provide sensations and this happens as a result of injury to the nerve..

The soft tissue injury on lip can lead to some fibrous growth in that area leading to felling of hardness in that area.

The nerve injury if temporary can take from a few months to a few years to recover..

In case of permanent damage there is permanent loss of sensations for life time..

I would suggest you to visit a neurologist and get evaluated for whether the injury to nerve is temporary or permanent..

Proper clinical examination and radiological investigations will help in making correct diagnosis and planing of appropriate treatment..

Hope your query is solved..

Thanks and regards..
