Could Frequent Headaches With Yellow Liquid Drainage From Nose Be Just An Infection?

Hi I had a series of terrible headaches in the past few days(6-7 consecutive days ago).. Some hours ago I started having episodes(4 so far) of yellowish urine like liquid dripping out of my nose as I bent. I do not have any history of head injuries. Could this be CSF leak or just an infection?

Hello,
I had gone through your question carefully and can understand your concern very well.

First of all, I would like to ask you few questions like your age, any chronic illness, any medications you are taking, any associated symptoms like fever, cold, cough, etc.

I would like to tell you that because you had no history of head injury, chances of CSF leaking is rare and in most cases, CSF is clear rather than yellow. So as per my opinion, you might be having sinus infection or foreign body infection. You can go for blood CBC and examination of fluid for glucose, protein and culture to rule out CSF.

If i were your treating doctor, i would have advised you few things like full antibiotics course like cefixime, anti histaminics like cetrizine, anti inflammatory drugs like paracetamol, nasal otrivin spray for 2 days, do salt water gargles 4 to 6 times a day, avoid going in dusty environment, take a healthy diet, etc.

You can wait for a week and if symptoms does not resolve, then you need to get examined yourself by an ENT specialist. So don't worry, you will be relieved mostly within a week.

Hope this answers your questions and let me know directly if you have any further queries, i will be grateful to help you further.
I find this answer helpful
