Could Elevation In Liver Enzymes Be Related To Bowel Obstruction?

My liver enzyme levels have always been within the normal range. I ve had 4 bowel obstructions in the last 18 months due to scar tissues from previous abdominal surgeries. The last 2 times when I was in the hospital, my liver enzyme levels spiked to over 300 the first time and to over 1500 the second time. On the 2nd and third days after my hospitalization, the levels quickly dropped and within 2 to 3 weeks, they would go back down to normal levels. All of the doctors seem to be surprised by how high the enzyme levels rose. Other than that they must be related to the bowel obstructions, none of the doctors seemed to be able to know the cause. Can you help me understand why?

I would suggest an ultrasound for hepatobiliary system, pancreas, common bile duct and complete liver function tests.sometimes stones or some cholangitis may be the cause in the biliary tree also seeing your acute abdomen so frquently, pancreas be assessed also, so serum amylase also be done.Let the tests show something, if nothing then no need to worry
