Could Dizziness Be Due To Rise In Blood Pressure Levels?

I went to urgent care yesterday for a cold and when they took my blood pressure it was 156/120. I ve never had high blood pressure before so this isn t normal for me they just over looked it because of that. However Im feeling somewhat dizzy now. Does this have anything to do with my blood pressure? should i be worried and what should I do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello.
Welcome to HCM.

Yes, dizziness can be due to high blood pressure or fluctuation in blood pressure levels. Also, if you are anxious or tensed, things can be similarly problematic and blood pressure can increase in that also with palpitations and sometimes dizziness.

I would suggest you to get an ECG done.
Go to the ER and get your pressure measured.
If it is high, antihypertensive medicines can be given accordingly.

However, proper examination and few additional investigations might also be needed.

Hope this was helpful.
