Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could Delaying Aortic Valve Surgery Cause Unregulated BP?
My dad was told that he has to have his aortic valve replaced. The doctors cleared him to go out of the country for 1 year to work at a mission and he could have the surgery when he gets back. He is now 6 months into his year away and is having problems regulating his blood pressure. Could this be because of the surgery he needs?
The aortic valve is the main door for blood to be pumped thru the body. If he needs a valve replacement he likely has aortic stenosis. In this disease the door only open a crack therefore letting less blood than usual is variations in bp. He may have aortic insuffiency in which the door is leaky and can have changes in bp. He should see his doctor asap as he may need the surgery sooner than later.
