Could Consumption Of Double Dosage Of Amoxicillin Be A Matter Of Concern?

I gave my 7 year son double the antibiotic (amoxicillin) the bottle said Take two teaspoonfuls by mouth daily for 10 days The pharmacist told me to give it to him once in the morning and once at night. But I thought she meant two teaspoonful in the morning and two at night and i was looking at the bottle and the bottle said: Take two teaspoonsfuls by mouth DAILY for 10 days Will my son be ok? I have only given him once the medicine today.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, first of all there is no need to worry Despite u have given extra dose,
Second, if your son 7 years ( weight around 20 kg assumed) then syrup won't work instead of this, he will require amoxycillin 250 dosage tablet I.e. half dose, syrup works only below 5 years or below 15 kg weight patients.
So no need to bother if extra dose is given in spite of this I would suggest half of the adult dosage,
Kindly contact your paediatrician for further advise.
