Could Chronic Asthma Be Related To Xiphoid Process?

I have chronic asthma which seems to be aggravated by an unusually long and twisted xiphoid process. The asthma becomes worse after eating or with specific exercises - such as crunches. The xiphoid is swollen and may occasionally make popping sounds. There is occasional moderate pain and swelling. The xiphoid process is clearly visible near the base and spirals inwards into the chest cavity. Could the xiphoid process contribute to the asthma and should I consider having it removed; the pain is a secondary consideration but interferes with exercise
