Could Ceasing Of Menstrual Cycle Be Due To Menopause?
I haven t had a period in nearly 6 years. I am 44 and healthy.I have had 4 children in the last 11 years that were all breast fed for 2-3 years each could this be a contributing factor. Do I need to have tests and what type or will I just begin to menstruate again in due course?
Its most likely to be a case of early menopause which is normal. But there are too many causes of secondary ammenorrhea which are quite uncommon at your setting. There are some hormonal problems at this period leading to bony problems, heart problems, mood disturbances etc. In which you may require hormone replacement therapy and other drugs. Its recommended to consult a gynecologist at this age.
