Could Blood From Nose Be Normal While Suffering With Wisdom Tooth Infection?

3 days ago I started taking antibiotics (amoxicillin 250mg x 2 three times a day and metronidazole 200mg x 2 three times a day) and a painkiller called ponstan also 250mg x 2 three times a day. I was told to give it a week to see if the infection goes away and if the pain and discomfort remains that would be an indication I need the wisdom tooth removed (my top right wisdom tooth). The thing is my whole right side is obviously soar and swollen, especially the right gland just under my chin, and for 3 days now when I blow my nose the snot is mixed with blood. Is this normal when one suffers from a wisdom tooth infection?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain if you have a deeply infected upper wisdom tooth and there is pain and swelling it indicates that you have dental abcsecc formation and due to inflammation and pus formation there can be extension of infection into the sinus because the roots of upper wisdom tooth are very close to sinus and at times the root tips lies within the sinus and the pus and blood can drain through the nose..

I would suggest you to get the tooth extracted as it can lead to inflammation of sinus and can cause Sinusitis..

Extraction followed by antibiotics and painkillers can be relieving..

Hope this information helps..
