Could Bleeding After Having Sex While Not Being On Periods Cause Infection To The Partner?
Hello Doctor I had sex with my girl last night, she's not in her period according to her, but i noticed blood mixed with semen dripping after the intercourse. My questions 1 what could be wrong with her? 2 Am I at risk of contracting the disease? 3 What drugs can I take for now to minimize the risk of infection in case its std.
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
I understand that you are quite worried about your recent situation. Vaginal bleeding, other than regular periods, can be due to a variety of causes - like irregular periods, infections in the cervix or vagina, uterine problems, vaginal tears due to rough sex, etc. It is not possible to arrive at a definitive cause without a proper examination and evaluation.
Regarding the chance of contracting infections / STDs, irrespective of whether there was bleeding or not, if you had unprotected intercourse, there is a risk. So, if this is the case, please consult a doctor for further evaluation and management.
Wish you all the best.
Regards, Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar Consultant Psychiatrist
