Could Antibiotic Be The Reason For Delay In Period?

Hi there, I was put on clarithromycin for tonsillitis this week. I finished my 3 week cycle of microgynon 30 on wednesday and should have start my period today but nothing yet. I ve been on the pill for 2 and half years and never been this delayed. I take the pill religiously. Could the antibiotic cause this delay? Should I be concerned? I ve heard it can be normal to not have one sometimes. Any advice? Thanks, Helena Thanks

As far as I know clarithromycin comes under the category of drugs that will not reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptive pills.sometimes periods will start even on 7th day of stopping the pills.Yes it is normal that while taking contraceptive pills sometimes besides irregular bleeding even missed periods also occur.but if you have other symptoms like weight gain, hair growth abnormally like in face or you are not getting periods next time also- you better consult your gyn dr who after examining you can plan the line of management.even when you are taking pills regularly, you dont get periods for two consecutive months r/o pregnancy is very important before starting next cycle of pills.Hope I answered your doubts.
