Could An Eye Transplant Give Eyesight For Macular Telangiectasia?

Hello, My boyfriend has Macro telangectasia and we are wanting to know if this disease will take his eye sight in both eyes? He is legally blind in the left eye and is 1/3 blind in the other eye and we were told there is no cure and that it is from both of his parents having the same gene and now because of that he is going blind. Do you know if the right eye with only 1/3 of the sight gone might stop progressing possibly or will it continue till he is blind since he already has it in that eye too. Can you give us any good news on this instead of all negative news. We have been told that he will probably go blind in both eyes and there is no cure but we would like to know if he could have an eye transplant and be able to see again? He already has so many other things like diabetes and he is losing weight and trying to get the sugers in control and I dont want to see anything else go wrong for him as he might give up. He also has arthritis in his tailbone so you can see why I would like to know if he can get an eye transplant as he is only 60 yrs old and doesnt deserve this. He has worked hard all his life and this is not fair for him to have t go through all of this. I feel so bad and cant help him as I dont know what to do for him. Sincerely Andrea and Curtis

Hello
It seems from the history that your boy friend is having macular telangiectasia which has caused legal blindness.
Corneal transplant will not cause improvement of vision for macular diseases and the corneal transplant will help only to cure blindness caused by corneal diseases.
However not to loose heart the retinal transplantation which may become a reality in near future may become a boon for this kind of diseases.

Thank you
