Could Truvuda Lead To Muscle Pain And Weakness?

I have been on Truvada for 6 years. I was on Truvada and Viracept most of that time. Last year we discoverd that Viracept was causing Myopathy. I was switched to Edurant and Travada. I am having servere unexplained muscle pain and weekness. We have run every test in the book and see 2 neurologist with no results. No one can tell me if this may be the long term side effect of Turvada. I took Viracept for years before side effects developed. Could this be the same thing? Blood work,MRI and neuro test all came back normal.

I will directly answer your question by stating that the anti retroviral drug Truvada leads to muscle pain and weakness as a part of it's side effects profile.

Thus, the myalgia (muscle pain) and weakness that occurs with Truvuda is
said to be "iatrogenic" in nature. This means that you do not have any
disease other than the one you are taking Truvuda for. The muscle aches and weakness are caused as a side effect of the drug.

Please speak to a local doctor, and switch over to another drug, just the way you switched from Viracept to Edurant. That is the best solution. You will
need to speak face to face with a doctor in order to be assessed for a different medication.
