Coughing, Loss Of Voice, Yellow Mucus, Back Pain. Prescribed Acetaminophen. Suggestion?

I have been sick with either a virus of a bacterial infection for 5 days now. I went to see a doctor because I wasn't getting any better and I had lost my voice from coughing so much as well as putting my back out. Moving was very painful. He prescribed acetaminophen/codeine phosphate 300/30 mg. Right away I felt relief in my back pain. But so for I am still coughing up yellow/green mucus and those pills are knocking me out. All I do is sleep (20hrs/day). What is your suggestion?
