Coughing blood, mucus, difficulty breathing, rib cage pain, pins and needles sensation on back. Treatment?

Hi Dr.... I have actually had a cough for a while, thought it was a cold , and today I am having an extremely hard time breathing , I m coughing up a little bit of mucus and blood, and when I breathe it hurts in my lower back/rib cage and twice today when I cough I feel pins and needles all over my back...but it feels more inside, not on my skin, if that makes sense.

It is probable that you may have a lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI). Please get a chest x-ray done to rule out this. Also, get your sputum culture and sensitivity done.

If the LRTI is confirmed, you may be started on relevant antibiotics depending on the susceptibility. It is better to see your primary care physician at the earliest, to avoid further complications.

However, you will recover soon.

Take care.
