Cough After Taking Coversyl For High Blood Pressure. Related?

I have been prescribed coversyl 4mg for high blood pressure. I have developed a cough which is not getting better. I started taking this drug about 2 months ago. I know I have some alergies right now because of pollen and other things in the air this time of year. I cough and cough, worse at night until I almost get sick to my stomach. Could it be the coversyl?

Hello,
COVERSYL is an ACE inhibitor having PERINDOPRIL as its salt.
Intractable cough is a known side effect of ACE INHIBITORS and happens in 10 to 15% people taking it.
It is very difficult to say whether you are having cough because of COVERSYL or allergic asthmatic bronchitis but the best would be to stop using COVERSYL and take some other anti hypertensive drug belonging to other class.
If COVERSYL is the cause for your cough, then ou should be all right in next 2 to 3 weeks.
Talk to your doctor for the alternate prescription for COVERSYL.
Thanks
