Continuous cough, excessive phlegm, severe at night, wheezing, TB ruled out, no relief with medicines. Effective remedy?

Hi, my name is John Abeng. For more than six months, I`ve had continuous coughing bringing out mucous all the time. Tested for T B nothing was found. I was recently placed by a docctor on antibiotics and some cough syrup . I cough a lot a night and there`s whizzing in my chest cavity.. Right now, the situation doesn`t seem to get better. What should I do Thank you. John Abeng Cameroon Africa.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Persistent coughing is usually related to (1) post nasal drip (2) asthma - some persons may have cough varient asthma where cough is the predominant symptom(3) gastro-esophageal reflux
Normally treatment is step wise- treating for possible post nasal with oral antihistamines, topical nose drops such as normal saline or topical nasal corticosteroid, avoiding any enviromental allergens.
It may be best to initiate the treatment for asthma first since this is the most dangerous:you doctor may consider starting a anti inflammatory inhalor (preventer) and a reliever inhalor to determine whether the coughing is related to asthma.
If you continue to have symptoms despite treatment for asthma or post nasal drip then it is possible that the symptoms are related to GERD.

I hope this helps
