Constipation, poor digestive system, vegetarian. Making good dietary choices. Treatment?

How can I better digestive system? I m a vegetarian, very healthy, and I always eat my fruits and vegetables. I am very cautious as to what I eat. I do little things such as eat whole wheat bread rather than white, drink soy milk rather than regular, but I STILL have a horrible digestive system. I m constipated very often and I hate the feeling. How do I regulate my system?
