Constant Nausea After Ventral Hernia Repaired And Mesh Put, Wound Healed. Should I Worry ?

3 weeks ago I had ventral hernia repaired with open surgery and then they put in a mesh as well. It was right above my belly button. I have healed up almost all the way. The insicision looks good and almost all swelling is gone as well as pain. The only thing that is bothering me is this constant naseau that started about a week and a half ago and has been ever present since then. It isnt as prevalent when I am up walking around or getting my blood flowing, but sitting down makes it very noticable. Is this normal as my guts get use to the mesh in there? I have gone back to see the surgeon and he told me that there is nothing that would cause this, but he is scheduling me for a screening to make sure everything is good since I demanded it. Should I be worrying, or is nausea a normal thing when healing from this. Like I said I have no pain anymore, and the incision is healing up very fast. This is the the only thing left that is a problem!
Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It depends if the abdominal cavity were opened. If so, there is a possibility that adhesions appeared or an intestine were caught with the suture. This can cause nausea indeed. Other possible reason of nausea is lack of good bacteria in your gastrointestinal tract. This is possible if after the surgery antibiotics were used.

I suggest you to try Rifaximine treatment and probiotic supplementation. If it wont help, diagnostics is necessary.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
