Congestion, Mild Fever, Vomiting And Diarrhea. Should I Consult A Doctor?

My daughter has been sick since last week Thursday. Congestion, mild fever. Moderate diarrhea started a few days ago. She now has a very LOW temp(95.4), and has been up vomitting and having diarrhea all night. She has a metabolic condition that affects her energy chain, and tends to have breakdowns when she is sick and putting out alot like she currently is. At what point should I take her to the ER?

hi,
thank you for your query.

Your daughter is suffering from the flu.In children, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea and abdominal pain are common part of the flu.
I would advise her to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of liquids, avoid aspirin as it can lead to Reye's syndrome.
Since influenza is caused by a virus, antibiotics have no effect on the infection;and the infection generally subsides on its own in 3-4 days time

i would advise you to consult a doctor if the symptoms dont subside even after after 3 days of starting of the symptoms.as your daughter already has a metabolic condition.

thank you,
wishing you good health
