Cold,eyes Having White Pus,runny Nose,watery Eyes

My Kid is 2 1/2 years old. From last two weeks, he is having cold . After first week, he got relief from cold but it started again. When he wakes up from sleep, his eyes are having white puss. We thought it is because of heat . we applied oil on his head for three days. Head used to become hot when oil was applied. After about three days, puss formation decreased and running nose and watery eyes started. He is having running nose and watery eyes now. What may be the problem? Your response will be highly appreciated. Thanks, Muni.

Hi he is suffering from viral infection which is causing cold with watery eyes. Keep his eyes cool by cold water compresses and apply a good lubricant eye drops 4 to 6 times a day,to keep him away from irritation and a mild antibiotic drops during daytime like Oflacin eye drops 4 times a day and Tocin eye ointment at bed time to prevent secondary bacterial infection until he is free from any discharge and watering.
If the symptoms persists for more than 2 days take him to the nearest eye doctor to find any corneal involvement due to viral infection which needs additional medications under supervision.
