Cold Sweat, Irregular Heart Beat. Was Hospitalized For Old Left Thalamus Infarct, TIA. Anything To Worry?
My dad was released from the hospital a few days ago with a diagnosis of old left thalamus infarct and TIA. He has high cholesterol and high blood pressure. He was sweeping earlier when he broke out in a cold sweat and had a headache. I checked his BP and the first reading was 135/107 and it read with an irregular heart rate. a few mins later I checked it again and it was 116/72 with still and irregular heart rate with pulse of 60. The cold sweat and irregular heart rate is new symptoms should I be concerned that is an ER or can we wait until his first dr apt 08/02
Hello, Welcome to Healthcaremagic. It is better to find out the cause the cause for Irregular heartbeat immediately. He may be have Heart block. To identify the type of heart block , He need to take ECG immediately. He may be suffering from Myocardial infarction or Electrolyte balance Also his Blood Pressure is dropping day by day.
So move him to ER.
Irregular heartbeat may be due to Atrial fibrillation with slow ventricular responce. It may be a cause for his Thalamus infarction.
The cold sweat and irregular heart rate needs to be checked immediately as it could occur due to myocardial infarction/ischaemia(silent heart attack). He needs to be taken to the ER at the earliest ,investigations like ECG/cardiac monitoring, cardiac enzymes like CPK-MB and other investigations depending on the physical findings need to be done urgently. This may prevent a serious problem from developing.
