Normally, during the luteal phase of the cycle, that is, in the ten days prior to having your period, the cervical mucus discharge thickens and becomes jelly like.
Most probably that is what you experienced.
This is good for you, because good cervical mucus indicates peri ovulation time, and there are good chances of pregnancy
during that period.
ALso, you have not mentioned what day of your cycle it was, otherwise one could have opined for sure.
Mostly, this seems like normal cervical mucus.
