Choking After Inhaling Food. Have Broken Vessels, Breathing Difficulty, Pain In Eyes. What To Do?
My husband was choking today at a restaurant. He inhaled a piece if food about the size of his fingernail. He had a very hard time getting enough air to be able to cough it out. He eventually did along with some blood. He now has broken blood vessels along his cheek bones and in his left eye. His eye hurts and its harder for him to breathe. He says it feels like there's pressure on his lungs and soreness going from pecs into his shoulders. What do you think he should do. We are on vacation.

From the symptoms you have described sounds like food he accidentally choked on went into his air passage & he had to cough really hard to expel it - some blood came out as a result of excessive cough & strain related to it on the small blood vessels. - again due to increased pressure inside the chest & neck while coughing - his skin has some bleeding underneath ( due to broken blood vessels) + eye is sore due to bleeding.
pain across chest wall is due to pulled muscles
My advice is to take some painrelief medications, massage chest with heat pads & allow some time for spontaneous resolution of bleeding under the skin & also small amout of bleeding inside the eye will settle as well.
Hope a speedy recovery
