Child With Fever, Vomiting. Reddish Scaly Scrotum. Slapped Cheek Virus?

My 4 year old son has had a temperature of 39 and as been ill for 2 days. Treated this with paracetamol and burden and plenty of fluid. He vomited 3 times over 24 hours. He then presented with s
Symptoms of slapped cheek virus. Now he has a tender red scrotum which he won't let me examine by touch and it is dry and slightly scaly in appearance. He has white spots on his tongue. Has he got oral thrush alongside hs slapped cheek virus? Ad should I be worried about hs tender scrotum?

Pediatrician, Surgery 's  Response
Hello
Thank you for placing your query on Health Care Magic
It is important that you consult a pediatric surgeon in this regard. Tender scrotum should never be ignored. One of the most dreaded reasons is torsion of testis and it destroys the testis if not taken care of in time (treatment is surgical). Time is a crucial factor here. Earlier the better. It does not seem that your child has torsion but its not worth taking a risk. The second and more likely cause in your case is epididymo-orchitis (inflammation and swelling of the testis and epididymis). It can bacterial or viral (treatment is antibiotics and analgesics with some hot fomentation). But all this can be determined only when the child is examined. So I suggest you consult a pediatric surgeon as soon as possible.
God bless you
