Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Usually in illness due to any infection, the appetite will decrease in children.

And once the infection has been treated and child is recovering from the illness, the appetite will increase.

Continue the medication as advised by your Pediatrician.

You can give soft diet and plenty of oral fluids during this period to maintain his hydration and nutrition.

Give balanced and nutritious diet containing frits, vegetables, and green leafy vegetables daily to improve his nutrition.

Vaccinate him appropriately as per the schedule.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Y V Siva Sankara Murty's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Yes any infection particularly in kids will cause decreased appetite. It is normal for them to have a decreased appetite after a illness.

Do not force feed him.

But encourage to take good quantity of high calorie foods.

Give a bland diet and avoid junk foods and food that is not prepared at home.

Immunity can be improved by giving a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
