Child With Dermoid Cyst Above The Left Eyebrow. Need To Be Removed?

Hello,
My daughter who is 4 years old has a dermoid cyst on the top of the left eyebrow since birth. We had adopted a wait and watch method till now. It is a little prominent at times and at other times not so prominent. I hope they are benign. I am thinking of getting them surgically removed? Do advise if any scar will be there or will they heal in time?

Thanks in advance,

Pediatrician, Surgery 's  Response
Hello,
The cyst you described is dermoid cyst. These are present since birth and only treatment is surgically removal. Earlier the surgery, small the scar, otherwise it may increase in size over year and needs large incision to remove. Consult Paediatric Surgeon for removal and minimal or no scar if operated early.
