Child Wakes With Crusty Eye, Lashes. Test Done. Advised Colorcusi Cicloplejico Eye Drops. Bacterial Conjunctivitis/allergic Conjunctivits?

Hi there,
I recently moved to Barcelona and my Spanish is limited. I recently took my 7 year old son to see the eye specialist as his teacher said he was having trouble reading. I have noticed in the last 2 weeks that he wakes up with crusty eye lashes. And he did complain a week back that he had something in his eye but I couldn't see anything. So something was going on hence the doctors visit.
The doctor didn't speak English - he performed a eye test which I witnessed and my son got everything right so I know his eye sight is normal. What I don't understand is why he prescribed my son colorcusi cicloplejico eye drops? Is it for Bacterial conjunctivitis treatment or allergic conjunctivits..or something else? Is this serious? What can I do to improve the recovery? Please inform me. He did not advise me to keep my son out of school.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi Friend I am Dr Bilal and I am an Ophthalmologist
Welcome to Health Care Magic and thanks for writing to us .
I would like to answer your question and your satisfaction is my goal .

From the history given by you , it seems as if your son is suffering from bacterial conjunctivitis and your eye doctor has suggested colorcusi cicloplejico eye drops to your son because these eye drops contain cyclopentolate , which causes mydriais and cycloplegia , thats is, it diltes puplis and paralyses the eye muscles . Basically the purpose is to give rest to the eye . Dont worry and follow the treatment your eye doctor has prescribed .

Wish your son a speedy recovery .
Good Luck . Best regards .
