My 6 year old daughter was treated for a ringworm on her scalp . We returned to the Dr after about 2 weeks because it wasnt getting better. They gave her amoxicillin for an infection. Now she has bumps throughout her scalp, on where the ringworm was and she cant stand to be touched it hurts so bad. One of the other bumps was leaking a white pus ....i dont know what to do!
Hello
I would be pleased to answer your question .
She seems to have had a flare up bacterial infection . Inflammatory fungal infection will also need to be ruled out .
She would need immediate treatment of the area with topical antibiotic solution and oral antibiotics depending on the antibiotic sensitivity .
Consideration for a short course of corticosteroid should be made so as to reduce the inflammation in the area to prevent permanent scarring or alopecia.
Please book an appointment with the Deramtologist or Pediatric dermatologist or Pediatrician to discuss the above.
Thanks and take care
