Child Not Gaining Weight. On Cypon Drops. Should I Be Concerned?

Hello Doctor. My son is 1 year and two months old, and weighs just near 8 kgs (birth weight was3 kgs). He is not gaining weight, but seems to be quite active, like other kids. Motions are also fine (at times he does not pass motions for a day or two, but would be fine once he eats something properly. He is too much into playing and running around. Should this be a cause to worry? His paed. has asked to put him on Cypon drops, but I somehow am not very convinced. Please help ...
Thanks, Archana

Pediatrician 's  Response
Dear Archana,

Please STOP Cypon. Your baby is fine at 8 kg. Don't look at formulas of growth for God's sake. Your baby is fine. He eats well, is playful, has no illness ... so why are you worried? Cypon can cause excessive sleepiness, interfere with the development of his brain and can cause a toxicity problem at very low doses. So, please ... no Cypon or any appetite stimulants for him or for any other child.
