Child Having Throat Pain. Growth In The Bottom Side Of Throat Below Voice Cord. Reason?

Dr., My son aged 8 years has been complaining of throat pain for the past few days. We thought it was due to usual throat infection and we made him gurgle salt water everyday. But now when we looked into his mouth, we saw extra growth of i inch long projecting like a stalk from the bottom side of throat, just below the voice chord. Please explain.

Pediatrician 's  Response
hared to explain without examining, it may be uvula which is a normal component of the pharynx and the throat pain may be due to tonsilitis or pharyngitis in any case requires a pediatrician to examine and an antibiotic coverage as well.
