Child Having On And Off Fever, Shivering, Loss Of Appetite, Rapid Heart Rate. Are They Flu Symptoms?

Hi, My son who is almost 3 years old has had a fever ranging between 37.5 and 39.5 C since Tuesdays evening, It's Friday afternoon now. His symptoms are: feels hot to touch, shivery at times also, loss of appetite but has eaten a little and is drinking but not as much as normal. He seems a bit blocked up with a clear runny nose a times but not much. No cough really. When he is really tired and can't move about at all this is when he has a rapid heart beat, when he tries to get up. He appears like he's coming right then he regresses again. When his fever is high he is quite upset, crying and not sure what is best for him. I don't really want to take him to the Doctor simply because I don't want to uproot him and take him out into the cold weather. However, the fever seems to be going on and off for quite some time now. It seems to me he has flu sypmtoms. What do you think?

Hi,
It seems that he is having viral fever but as three days passed there is possibility of having bacterial infection as well.
Consult your doctor, he may require one course of antibiotic to cure him.
Continued without medicines there are likely of having complication like pneumonia etc.
Meanwhile give him syrup paracetamol and some decongestant syrup.
Give plenty of water and light diet.
Ok and take care.
