Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My baby is having fever of 103 deg F, which is not coming down. Doctor has suggested Crocin DS of 2ml 4 times a day with time interval of 6hours. Also there is a little swelling noticed at the top of the head from midnight. Just now I had called our pediatric, he says everything is normal, give baby a mild hot bath. please advise ASAP!!
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic. Fever without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness. Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active. I request you to get back to me with the following - 1. Age of the kid 2. What is the kid's weight. 3. Today is which day of fever 4. Send a photograph of the little swelling. Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health. Dr. Sumanth MBBS., DCH., DNB (Paed).,
