Child Have Problem In Urination. Had Fever Followed By Rashes. What To Do?

My grandson is 10 months old and he does not seem to be urinating often. Today, he woke up with very little
urine in his diaper. He went about 10 hours before having a wet diaper of which did not have much urine. The
urine had a strong smell. He also ran a fever about two days ago, 102 degrees, and he broke out with a rash today. For at least the past week, he has not had as many wet diapers as I would expect. I am worried because this does not seem normal.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

Decreased urine output is a sign and symptom of dehydration of the body.

The dehydration may be due to decreased oral intake of adequate oral fluids or evaporation from the body due to high fever.

I advise you to give sips of oral rehydration fluids like Pedialyte frequently to correct dehydration.

Cause for his fever has to be evaluated further by examination and investigations if required.

Therefore I advise you to consult pediatrician for physical examination to assess the severity of dehydration, to look for the focus of infection, and for treatment.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
