Child Have Frequent Passing Of Stool. Took Zinconia Syrup And Neutolin B Now. What Can Be The Reason?

My 6 month old male child has been on breastfeeding. 10 days back we started to give give him food like rice mashed and rice soup . From that day onwards he has been passing stools nearly 8 to 10 times in a day ,every day . We showed him to a doctor who prescribed Zinconia syrup. Sice there was no improvement ,after consultation with another doctor ,we also started giving him Neutrolin B . Still there is no improvement . but Baby is still active , No fever . But he strains a lot during passsing motion . Also he has a lot of gas problem. Sometimes during breastfeeding also he cries. Baby mother had urinary infection 3 weeks back for which she was on medication for 10 days. Now she has healed completely

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Continue zinconia and nutrolin B as advised by the doctor.

If the stools are loose and watery, you can give oral rehydration solutions like Pedialyte to prevent dehydration of the child.

Hygienic preparation of weaning or complimentary feeds is important to prevent contamination.

Stool should be given for routine and for culture if the loose stools are persisting. Consult your pediatrician again for re-evaluation and for further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. E Venkata Ramana
