Child have bleeding stool. What can it be?

Hi, my boyfriend wakes up every morning feeling like hes going to throw up and then he is afraid to eat because the feeling comes back... and when he flexes, his lower left side pops out. And he is also bleeding when he poops. When his mom stopped in to ask a doctor they told her it could be colon cancer, but hes only 15... what could this be? :(

Hello and welcome to HCM,

Blood in stools with associated nausea, vomiting and aversion from eating anything indicates infection of the gastrointestinal tract.
There are a number of bacteria which cause blood in stools. This condition is called dysentry.
Shigella dysentriae is a common cause of dysetry.
Blood in stools may be caused by cancer of the intestines but that is associated with other constitutional symptoms like tiredness, weakness, and loss of appetite.

I advise you to go for stool routine examination and culture.
The organism causing the infection can be isolated by the culture.
Cancer is unlikely at this age.

Thanks and take care.

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

If your doctor is saying colon cancer why do you neglect that.

I request you to get it investigated.

Yes I do accept that cancers are rare in younger children compared to old people.

Does he have any burning sensation in the epigastric region?
Does he have any yellowish coloration of eye?

Please reply in detail so that we can help you.

if your doctor suspecting colon cancer you shouid go for colonoscopy.
as you didnt mention the type of blood mixed stool. either it is fresh or dark colour. or it is mixed with stool or comes after defecation . so i cant tell you that it is related to upper GI or Lower GI.
So go for investigation and tell again
Take care
