Child Has Wrinkled Hands And Fingers. Should I Be Concerned?

My son is 20 months old and I notice that many times when he is eating his hands get very wrinkly as if he was in the bath or his hands were submerged in water. He uses a fork but also uses his fingers at times while eating. I have noticed this while he was eating fruit but tonight he was eating macaroni and cheese. Should I be concerned about his wrinkly fingers.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I do not see any reason for you to worry about this change. This is known as washerman's hand and is due to remaining in contact with water/fluid for some time.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son all the best.

Regards,

RKK
