Child Has Stomach Bug, Vomiting, Nose Bleed. Reason?
Hello, recently my three year old daughter had a 24 hour tummy bug and was vomiting most of that time which she is fine now. Since being sick she has been getting regular nose bleeds maybe one a day for the last five days could this be a burst blood vessel in her nose due to vomiting 6 days ago. What s the best thing to do now. Thank you derrick.

Hi,
The nose has many blood vessels, due to various reason when it dries its mucous membrane crust and kids tend to pick on them which leads to bleeding.To stop this one can apply ice pack on the nose and pinching the nose to stop the bleed for 5-10min also keep the head titlted downwards so that blood doesnot irritate the throat.If it doesnot stop and keeps on recurring then visit her docter who might rule out other reasons for bleeding like clotting problem or low platelet count.

Your daughter was having acute gastroenteritis which has settled now.
Since she is having recurring nose bleeds i suggest you to get her examined by ENT specialist.
Common causes of nose bleed are.-infection/nose picking/trauma/bleeding disorder/
In case she bleeds again apply cold compresses over nose,pinch her nose for 5 minutes.
You can put liquid paraffin in both nostrils.
