Child Has Stomach Ache, Vomiting. No Fever. On Fluids. Sleeping More. Recommendations?

My 5 year old son came down with a stomach ache, and vomiting the night before last. Since then he stopped vomiting, has had no fever, is holding down fluids, and small portions of crackers/toast. He is still complaining of stomach pain, and has been sleeping much more then usual. We were told by a urgent care physician that it most likely is just a 24-72 hour stomach "bug". What do you think? It worries me that he is not as active as usual.

Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.
It seems like gastritis from a stomach bug like virus.
Try to maintain his hydration by giving sips of oral rehydration solutions.
And consult the pediatrician to locate the site of pain abdomen and to evaluate for the cause.
If pain persists, ultrasound abdomen to be performed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards.

Pediatrician Dr. Irshad H Naqvi's  Response
Hi Dear .

Welcome to the Platform of Health Care Magic.

Yes it all appears to be some type of gastritis in response to any viral or bacterial element which has now expelled by the body by vomitings.

Now he is dull. It is because of some dehydration and electrolyte disturbance caused by severe vomitings.
Some antiacid medicine like lansoperazole/digene gel/ Oral Rehydrating solution(Electrol) will help in lot in recoving in day or two.

Hope the query is answered

Thanks
