Child Has Smelly, Pale And Loose Stools With Mucous. Taking Miralax. Suggestions?

15 mo old daughter presenting with metallic smelling stools loose in consistency, pale in color, and mucous present. Bottom is burnt from frequency of these BMs. Was on Miralax (2tsp) daily took her off of it 5 days ago when. Bms were completely clear and frequent (5x) day.. GI said to watch it and her, if she seems sick to take her to ER and to lessen the miralax. I think she needs a sono as she s been having difficulty for about a month, and has a fissure .

Hi,
The miralax given was to relieve her constipation and a little foul smelling loose motions are expected with this medication.The docter is trying to titrate the right dose so that she doesnt get constipation.Bottom burn can be tackled by putting liberal amount of nappy creams so there is soothing effect.If she gets dehydrated then you will need to trake her to the ER.But also you cannot stop miralax because she has fissures and till the time that heals she will have painful defecation if motions are not loosened.Also please give her lots of fibre diet like fruits and vegetable to solve the origin of constipation problem.
