Child Has Runny Stools, Taken Fluids, Weakness, Diarrhea, Vomiting

My son is 7 he had runny stools and vomited last Sat night this continued until Sun. Monday was very weak we gave him fluids. He seemd to get better. Tues & Wed Today Thursday he woke up with explosive diahrea and the vomited. I took him to the Dr who wanted a stool sample told us to give him fluids. Tonight he vomited 4 times and finally went to the bathroom. It was solid but a yellowish color. He seems to vomit whenever he eats?

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

I think your kid is having gastroenteritis.
Your kids requires antiemetics to stop the vomiting as prescribed by your doctor.

If the vomiting are controlled post antiemetics then you may continue ORS as prescribed by your doctor. But if the vomiting are not controlled then your child needs to be given Intravenous fluids to prevent dehydration.

Monitor or the signs of dehydration.
They are dry skin, decreased skin turgor, increased thirst, sunken eyes, decreased urination etc.

The yellow color of the urine indicates concentrated urine is passed and your child requires to be rehydrated.

Hope this helps.
Take care.
