thanku for your query,
well i understand your concern for your daughter.Cough and cold are very common in kids of less than 5yrs old ,and they r generally viral in nature but sometimes it can progress to pneumonia.well u can easily prevent it by few simple steps and by 5yrs it will decrease a lot.
few preventive steps are
1 avoid sudden change of weather
2 avoid sudden exposure to windy areas
3keep baby comfortably warm in change of weather
4avoid colours and colouring products i.e. candies, stick ice cream esp coloured ones
5avoid too oily stuff
6 give healthy diet ,containing good amt of protiens
7regular fresh fruit intake and vegetable intake should be made a habbit
8good amount of fluid intake should b given i.e.water,coconut water, milk
9daily some amount of sunlight exposure that increases Vit D levels , which further increases the immunity
10 last but not the least proper vaccination to be done esp for pneumonia, if your child has low immunity
now still if your child suffers from cough and cold give some antiallergics, does not settle in day or two, meet the pediatrician .
i hope i have solved your query according to your satisfaction
god bless
