Child Has Lump In Leg, No Pain Or Swelling. Ultrasound Showed Irregular Shape

Hi, my 6 year old son, has had a lump in his leg (Shin) for about six months now. It has gotten a little more speared out, but got a little more flatter. he has no pain or any swollen in that area. took him for an X-ray nothing showed. we also had an ultra sound done and it showed a mass with a irregular shape and it was kinda attached but had a sunk in look in the middle to it. The doc who is the radiologist looked at it and said he has never seen anything like it. And it was not a cyst . Please help very worried

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
hi there, if it was not obvious on x-ray then it was not a bony growth, on ultrasound it was not a cyst as your radiologist has suggested. If it is non painful and not growing then probabely you could get a Fine needle aspiration cytology done of the lump if required ultrasound guided and get to the etiology of the lump. According to its origin and nature it can be either excised or left alone. Don't worry and get to the bottom of it ,Take care,
