Child Has Inflamed Area Around Anus, No Discomfort. Diarrhea. Could It Just Be Irritation?

my 2 year old has a white enflamed area around his anus . he does not seem to be trying to scratch it at all or even acting like it bothers him, but it looks awful. He has had diarrhea , could it just be irritated? We keep him changed and use Bert s Bees baby salve every night, he did not have a diaper rash prior to this.

This looks like a duplication of the answer I already gave. Do let me know the progress of the lesion in the next few days. Remember to rule out a fungal infection. Keep the rash area completely dry. Sprinkle anti-fungal powder over it even after the infection has healed to prevent a recurrence.

Regards,

Dr. Taher
