Child Has Hypothyroidism Symptoms. Will Synthroid Cure Her?

My daughter is 16 and has most of the hypothyroidism symptoms. Her TSH was 9.56 and T4 level was normal. Her doctor placed her on the generic synthroid at 50mcg and we are waiting to see a ped endcorinlogist. I have been reading the range wars and if the new range of normal is 3 then her 9.56 is even worse. Do I worry about how she has this or is it a simple fix of taking the synthroid? What would can they do besides take blood work? Is there something else I should be asking this doc when we get in?

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
Your daughter TSH is high and above the normal range for her age.
Continue the synthroid as advised by her doctor.
The normal range of TSH for her age is 0.7 to 6.4mIU/L. Don't worry about the range war of the lab values and you can discuss your concerns with the Pediatric endocrinologist and he will guide you.
There may be additional blood work required like testing for anti thyroid antibodies.
You can ask for the follow up intervals, her diet any any your concerns.
Hope I have answered your query.
