My daughter has a history of hospital admission due to UTI. Her UTZ showed mild left pelvocaliectasia. Her urine culture result says no growth. after 3months, her UTz result was normal. A month after, she was admitted again due to same reason. What is your diagnosis and what advice can you give us? As of now,her pus cells reads 8-16/hpf with rare bacteria.

Thank you for your query.

Pus cells of 8-16/HPF in urine is suggestive of urinary tract infection. If urine culture is sterile then urine should be examined and cultured for AFB which is a known cause for sterile pyuria.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.
